Mauritius had an active live donor kidney transplantation programme that unfortunately stopped in 2017. Of course, there are not only plans to restart live donor but also deceased donor transplantation. There has been a debate whether the Mauritians should be given the choice of opting in to be an organ donor when they die or rather not out of being a donor. The UK has moved from an opt in scheme to join a select club of few countries with an opt out scheme.
What should Mauritius do?
